Paul Butcher, 80, of Taftville, was killed just before 12:30 p.m. when his car went off the side of Turnpike Road in Willington and hit a tree on the left shoulder of the road near Moose Meadow Road, Connecticut State Police said.
Paramedics took Butcher to Rockville Hospital in Vernon, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Police are investigating the crash.
